A poem of preparation for the installation of a new pastor at Rainbow Mennonite
Opening. A poem in honor of September 2013
Rainbow Mennonite Church
September Two Thousand and thirteen.
A month of anticipation and expectation.
Thirty days of reflection;
four weeks of preparation.
A time to lay down the marker stones;
to leave the cairns that mark each turn gone before
of all the paths already traveled
to leave those markers of where we were
and move to where we will be.
To move through yet another gate and
having shut the others,
to reach to turn the handles yet
to come to us.
It is the act of turning the handles
to open the gates
that brings us a new wave of air,
a new light with a new view.
We see new shapes
created by new light.
Light. Shadows. Air.
all coming together to draw us forward.
Seeing a new vista but always
Opening.
Opening.
Opening.
