Royals in Kansas City

October 25, 2014

Kansas City Ascendant

For three decades minus one

the princes had wondered about

the dusty plains of fly-over land

swinging their trusty weapons

and pounding their fists

covered in gloves of soft leather.

Running, pitching, catching;

preparing for the coming battles

that would surely come their way.

Princes in wait.

Then, in the year of 14

they rose up to do battle

with the forces of the

coastal lowlands;

to meet the kingdoms that

had so long ruled them

and the great powers were

in awe of the blue forces.

The  highland princes in blue

fought valiantly winning victory

after victory until the decisive

battle was joined and they

headed courageously into the foray

and engaged the only mighty kingdom

left, the giants of the western bay.

And although the princes battled

With great heart and soul,

they were defeated in the battle

and had to bow to the Great Kingdom

and laid down their weapons

but as they did, their people

raised them up in spirit and hope

for battles to come

Royalty in defeat.
