and so I had reached the
promised moment but
the journey through Advent
had been long
and I was exhausted.
I wanted no more.
I wished to sit down,
move aside, get away
even retreat
when a hand on my shoulder;
the hand of a fellow traveler
asked only to be steadied
and so I reached
out to them
and we stayed at that
intersection of the human
and the divine
in the grinding wind
and the blinding light
and it was as it
should be
when we allow
the light
to engage with
our darkness
together.
