The spiral of living
turns without end
sometimes picking up
speed beyond
the capacity to respond
other times very slow
and deliberate
but the direction
the pilgrim chooses
to ride
is the choice
that makes all
the difference
for
it moves
in two directions
at once.
The first is to
plumb depths of
a known reality that is
concentrated and
narrow and echoes
into itself and burrows
deeper and deeper
while
A choice to turn in
the other direction
is to expand
with each turn
reaching to new
realities yet unseen
and yet untried
where the winds
whip past the ear
and the sights
are often blurred
and unclear
and the
only choice is
to hold tight
and ride
screaming
into the void
and filling it.
