Thoughts along the Path of Lent

March 6, 2017

A Lament

my mouth is parched

and cracked

from the

days and months

of no refreshment

but

as the water

is poured across

my lips

I do not close them

and it drips; no runs

from the corners

of my mouth

and destroys

the starch of

my shirt

and flows

across

my lap

and my

trousers;

it pools at my

feet useless

and

dangerous
