It’s too hard

December 16, 2016

The walk to Bethlehem

is long and seems too hard

and for what are we

seeking in any case?

Is this worth the effort?

We walk and stumble

tripping over our visions

and our failures alike.

Where is the time to rest;

to recover?

Where is the time to dwell

in the promise of what

we seek?

While we walk and fall

and get up to walk again,

the limos of the powerful

and the sure fly past us

with their lights blazing

blotting out the lights

of Bethlehem leaving

us exhausted and confused

for if we cannot see

the lights of the city

of promise, we have

lost our way and

the chariots of power

beckon all us to give up

and some of us to

get in.
